    • Personally, I think the critique – catchy as the formulation “white boy version of the NBA” may sound – is overdramatising the matter. Not only does the attempt to found a start-up not necessarily represent a stalemate to potential future intellectual endeavours, but it also does not hinder one’s personal development. Undoubtedly many fellows will fail, but they will learn a lot in the process – things that are different from what they would have learned in college, but potentially valuable and enlightening still. Moreover, having received a $100,000 will not act as an impediment to enrolment at a university of their choice in the future. If there is a problem, than it is the students dropping out without funding and objective recognition of their idea. For those who receive this grant I can only see it as a win-win situation. They are being offered a great opportunity to pursue something they are passionate about and if they fail to succeed, they are in for a soft landing.
